A Townhouse Retreat at the Gateway to Višnja Gora

The town apartments in the heart of Višnja Gora combine the charm of the past with the comfort of modern living. The house in which the apartments are located stands right at the entrance to Višnja Gora’s main square, on the historic site of the former toll station—where for centuries the town welcomed travelers, merchants, and new ideas.
This heritage-protected building has been carefully restored, preserving original architectural elements while adding contemporary amenities. Today it offers four new, fully equipped apartments, each named after a historical figure who shaped Višnja Gora in a different era.

APARTMENT ROZALIJA
A spacious and elegant two-level apartment
The largest apartment in the house, ideal for families or longer stays. It features two bathrooms, a large dining table suitable for working from home, and a sense of refined townhouse luxury.

Named after Rozalija Codelli (1852–1938), baroness, poet, and benefactor from Višnja Gora.
Baroness Rozalija Codelli was one of the town’s most prominent figures at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Creative, educated, and socially active, she wrote poetry and feuilletons and, as president of the Red Cross in Višnja Gora, devoted herself to helping others.

APARTMENT SOFIJA
A two-level apartment with balconies and a terrace
A spacious family apartment with two balconies, access to a garden/terrace, and a dynamic sleeping area in the attic. An excellent choice for larger groups or families.

Named after Sofija of Višnja Gora (1190–1256), a count’s daughter and the heroine of the legend of the Golden Snail.
Sofija of Višnja Gora was the last representative of a powerful noble family and the wife of the Margrave of Carniola and Istria. According to legend, her compassion gave rise to the famous story of the Golden Snail, the symbol of Višnja Gora. After her husband’s death, she devoted herself to spiritual life and was buried in Stična.

APARTMENT JANEZ
A comfortable studio with garden access
A cozy and peaceful studio apartment with a double bed, kitchen, bathroom, and direct access to the garden—ideal for couples or solo travelers.

Named after Janez Cigler (1792–1869), priest and author of the first Slovenian novella.
Janez Cigler lived and worked in Višnja Gora for 37 years. As an educated clergyman and writer, he authored the first original Slovenian novella, Sreča v nesreči (Fortune in Misfortune), linking Višnja Gora with the wider cultural space of Europe at the time.

APARTMENT MIHAELA
An intimate studio for a peaceful getaway
The smallest yet exceptionally cozy apartment for two guests. The sleeping area with kitchenette and access to a terrace creates a warm, homelike, and tranquil atmosphere.

Named after Mihaela Zajc–Jarc, poet and guardian of Višnja Gora’s cultural heritage.
Mihaela Zajc–Jarc was a poet, publicist, and an outstanding host of cultural life in Višnja Gora. She wrote poetry and ethnographic texts, collaborated with radio, and published the book Duhan iz Višnje Gore. She opened her home to artists and visitors and devoted herself to preserving local memory.
